Electronic Closed Circuit Rebreather (eCCR) Controller Suite (pdf)
The LRI eCCR Controller Suite has been designed as a failsafe Oxygen set-point controller with a paramount design criterion of allowing for “mission completion” despite either an electrical or hardware failure. Although these criteria may not be completely necessary for sport diving, it is absolutely necessary of a life support controller in other applications. The entire function of the controller suite can be summed up by simply saying that this suite maintains the Oxygen pressure in a closed circuit breathing system at one of 3 levels selected by the user. An ancillary function independent of specific setpoint goals is to warn the user by light and sound indications if there is an inherently dangerous level of Oxygen or fundamental system malfunction. Our systems are currently in use and have been rigorously tested around the world by diving professionals. Thousands of hours of in-water use have been spent during our development cycle to provide you with the most reliable and functional system we could develop. Our controller suite consists of various modules which may be mixed and assembled to form different functional configurations. At the very least, a complete system must contain a sensor array element, a controller element, a display element, and a solenoid element. Many of our modules are multifunction and therefore combine various elements into one complete module |

Central Controller Module (CCM)
The CCM is an integrated setpoint controller and gas manifold system. The controller electronics require a Sensor Array and an ILD or a UDC. The HUD module is optional. The gas manifold provides a dual input, solenoid controlled dual common output arrangement. Each input and output gas paths have two 3/8”-24 threaded ports. These can be fitted with a variety of connectors, hose or tubing adapters depending upon need. Power is supplied from two AA batteries and contained in an isolated compartment. Some of the features of the CCM are: • The CCM case is constructed of hard anodized aluminum for superior durability and life. • The case has a removable port plugs to facilitate vacuum/leak testing. • Ultra low power consumption. • Operates from two standard AA batteries in an isolated battery compartment. • The internal PCB is completely field-replaceable should even the unimaginable occur. • User selectable Oxygen setpoints of 0.70, 1.00 and 1.30 ATA. • User selectable calibration points of 0.95, 0.97 and 1.00 ATA. • Altitude compensating to 10,000 ft. • Advanced Oxygen sensor discrimination and decision tree. • Extensive, fault tolerance design. • 10+ hours of historical and diagnostic data recording. • Auto-activation. • High reliability solenoids. • Can interface to either a ILD or UDC display module. |

Intelligent Light Display (ILD)
The ILD is a highly optimized feedback and control instrument. Its purpose is to quickly inform the user about the current operating condition of the controller suite. Careful attention has been paid to minimize the effort to understand the information presented. Its functions include: system startup/shutdown, Calibration, Oxygen setpoint maintenance, current Oxygen level, system alarm condition display, and manual Oxygen and Diluent injection. The ILD may only be used with the Central Control Module (CCM) and has no independent behavior or function. The power for the Intelligent Light Display is supplied from the CCM. Some of the features of the ILD are: • The ILD case is constructed of hard anodized aluminum for superior durability and life. • The case has a removable port plug to facilitate vacuum/leak testing. • The single-throw and dual-throw magnetic switch assemblies are user serviceable for cleaning and/or replacement. • The internal PCB is completely field-replaceable should even the unimaginable occur. • There are six visible LEDs for Oxygen level and system status display and one infra-red LED for data communications to other computer systems. • Manual Oxygen injection switch. • Manual Diluent injection switch. • Water blocked, Kevlar reinforced data cable. |

Universal Display/Controller (UDC)
The UDC is a multifunction device that adapts its function to the role it is placed in. It can operate as a standalone PO2 monitoring device, as a display module for a CCM, or as a setpoint controller when used with the External Solenoid Module. Power is supplied from two standard AA batteries in a completely isolated compartment. Some of the features of the UDC are: • The UDC case is constructed of hard anodized aluminum for superior durability and life. • The case has a removable port plugs to facilitate vacuum/leak testing. • The switch assemblies can be removed for cleaning and/or replacement. • The internal PCB is completely field-replaceable should even the unimaginable occur. • The UDC has an integrated pressure sensor for atmospheric and aquatic pressure sensing. • Altitude compensating to 10,000ft. • There are six visible LEDs for Oxygen level and system status display and one infra-red LED for data communications to other computer systems. • The UDC has an integrated ambient light sensor for automatic LED brightness compensation. • The LCD has a very low power, automatically controlled backlight which adjusts to ambient light conditions. • Ultra low power consumption. • Uses standard AA batteries in an isolated compartment. • Large display digits for easy reading. • Aggregated Oxygen sensor output for integration with Oxygen sensing dive computers with a constant calibrated output. • Manual Oxygen injection switch. • Alternate display data – displays the information from the CCM or other UDC. • Water blocked, Kevlar reinforced data cable. |
Sensor Arrays |
|
| All of our sensor array module electronics have two data outputs for each of the three Oxygen sensors. These outputs are fully independent ensuring continued operation on one side should the other side be compromised. Additionally all sensor arrays have provisioning for our Solid State Carbon Dioxide sensor. The sensor array modules interface directly with the CCM, UDC or CO2 modules. | |

MK15x
The MK15x sensor array can be ordered for either the MK15 or MK15.5 style scrubber housings. The sensor array replaces the existing sensor holder, sensor pcb and sensors and replaces them with R22D style sensors. The sensor array electronics is specifically designed for use with LRI CCM and/or UDC modules. |

”P” Connector
This sensor array module is designed for use with the Drager™ female “P” connector. It incorporates three Teledyne K1D Oxygen sensors or two K1’s and a Solid State CO2 Sensor. Addidtionally, there is an gas injection port available to facilitate injection gas into the breathing loop from this point. |

Kiss Sport™
This sensor array is built upon Jetsam Technologies K1 sensor housing. We’ve adapted our electronics into the housing for proper operation with our CCM, UDC and CO2 modules. |

Drager Shoulder Mount
This sensor array is designed specifically for the Drager Atlantis™ or Dolphin™ style rebreather hose connectors. It is built upon the Kiss Sport™ Sensor array module. |

External Solenoid Module
The ESM provides the means for controlling Oxygen injection when directly connected to a UDC. The ESM has only one gas solenoid, for Oxygen, unlike the CCM which has two solenoids – for both Oxygen and a diluent. Power for the ESM is provided by the UDC power supply. |

CO2 Sensor Module
The CO2 module contains the electronics and power supply for the solid state CO2 sensor. CO2 information is passed to the UDC for display and alarm functions. The CO2 module interfaces directly with the Sensor Array modules. |

Heads-Up Display Module
The HUD module provides a remote display and a simple minimal indication of whether or not the current system and PO2 states requires immediate operator attention or not. The HUD display may also be mounted as a buddy indicator. |

MK15x eCCR Controller Suite (pdf)
This system is based on our standard eCCR controller suite – CCM, ILD and UDC. Additionally it includes all of the necessary plumbing and hardware necessary to adapt a MK15 or MK15.5 rebreather to the new controller system. Preferably this suite is connector-less to insure the highest reliability possible. If desired, any cable can be ordered with a male and female IP68 rated connector. |
